Shakti Sadhana ************ Maha Saraswati by NMadasamy ************ I meditate on the incomparable Maha Saraswati who holds in her ( eight ) lotus-like hands, bell, trident, plough, conch, mace, discus, bow and arrow; who is effulgent like the moon shinning at the fringe of a cloud, who is the destroyer of Sumbha and Other Asuras, who issued forth from Parvati's body and is the substraction of the three worlds

MahaSaraswati is the representation of the third deity of the Sattvic aspect of Devi Durga, She is seen holding several other arms and objects, which are not in conformity with her functions of peace, literature, her subtle forms. She is bright like the autumn moon, five faces and even three eyes, a blue neck and have ten arms holding the pasa (noose), Anuka ( goad), Padma ( Lotus), trisula ( trident), Sankh (Conch), Cakra ( Discus ), even a bell, ploughshare, bow and arrows. In the Devi Bhagavat Purana and the Devi Mahatmya, Mahadevi is the ultimate overlord of creation. She is described as the highest, primordial Shakti, the mother of all the worlds, eternal and omnipresent, the ultimate support of all that exists. When the Mahadevi wishes to create the cosmos, she does so without effort or desire. Through the creative forces, she became two portion. One , she remain Nirguna Sakti, but she also became three saktis that are involved in the creation : Sattvic Saktis, Rajasic Saktis, and Tamasic Saktis. Her Sattvic aspect becomes Mahalakshmi, the Rajasic aspects becomes MahaSarawati and her Tamasic aspects becomes MahaKali. Maha saraswati is being worship during the last three night of Navarathri. I have read many books/ articles differentiating Maha Saraswati and Saraswati Devi, I personally can't see the difference. In my opinion, Saraswati Devi is another aspect of the Maha Devi and not just the daughter as she being popular perceived. In her form as Maha Saraswati, the "swords" and the "weapons" that she carries with her is more of symbolic in nature. The Demon itself is symbolic. The Demon in us, is the ignorance and the ego that needs to be cut off and severed. We need the knowledge and wisdom to be able to see pass these ignorance ( Maya ). Saraswati Devi is the beginning of that journey in seeking this knowledge and Maha Saraswati is the Ultimate Knowledge. ***** SHE IS THE ULTIMATE KNOWLEDGE *****
